Everything you need to know about Brewdog’s new shot glass painting workshop in Bournemouth
Everything you need to know about the new Picasso-inspired day out
Still got two months of summer left and running out of plans to fill it? This is England after all and our sunny days are limited, so if your beach plans have been rained off, this is the perfect day out for a Picasso inspired date day or outing with your housemates!
You may not have ever heard of shot glass painting before, but Brewdog have created this wholesome activity to be enjoyed as an alternative to sitting in a pub garden, or to hide away from the rain as typical British weather likes to surprised us throughout “summer”.
So, what is it?
The unsung hero of Bournemouth’s pub scene, Brewdog has to be my personal favourite. Why? Well, let me tell you. The hub of alcohol located under the BH2 ticks all of my boxes.
There are dog paw-ties, free tasters, bottomless chicken wings and more. But, after trying one of its new ventures, shot glass painting, I’m an even bigger fan. What a spectacular way to get off your rocker on marshmallow and vanilla vodka, while accidentally covering your newly painted nails in egg-yellow paint (yes, I’m still annoyed).
This new event was £5pp for two hours of non-stop painting and mess (2pm until 4pm). This price includes the painted shot glass and use of materials and during this two hour time slot, you can drink ’til you chun! The excessive drinking may be down to the awesome student discounts they have at BrewDog, but either way, it’s a win win.
Everyone participating in the event can also enjoy 25 per cent off food AND drink, meaning you can soak up all that alcohol with something tasty too. Once you’re finished, you can also enjoy an “under 25s” 50 per cent off discount every Sunday from 4pm. Don’t mind if I do.
So, with all this in mind I decided to try it for myself… mainly because I’m a cheap skate, but also because my girlfriend needs 24/7 entertainment to prevent her from getting on my nerves.
The outcome
After about an hour or so, I had paint in my hair and (as I’ve already complained) under my nails. My partner managed to smother her nose and Nike t-shirt in red paint too. A stunning pair and truly, a sight to behold. Arguably, this could be down to the free cider samples or the copious amount of spirit we both consumed.. or we are quite frankly, idiots who are not to be trusted with acrylic paint; this is up for debate. Despite the mess it left us in, this concept was awesome and many other tables enjoyed themselves too. There were banging tunes, great staff and overall a slay time. My inner child was truly content.
This activity would be perfect for BU and AUB students, as you can get the tipsy giggles by enjoying the discounts and artistic talent within your group (or lack there of), before stuffing your face with Munchies kebabs and heading to Snakebite Sunday.
Clearly my girlfriend and I think about food too often, as we decorated our shot glasses according to scran… Nevertheless, I think they’ll look pretty in our kitchen one day (if you like it then you should’a put a ring on it x).
P.S, why are the glasses upside down? Blame an unreliable photographer (cough, girlfriend, cough, too many bevs). I blame the under 25s deal…
